We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Child Welfare Caseworker to join our team. The successful candidate will receive training, both classroom style and “hands on” while in training, participate in worker shadowing, as well as limited casework services to families. The trainee will attend court hearings and learn to prepare for necessary court involvement, become familiar with all areas of child and family development and educate parents regarding these areas. The trainee will provide intensive casework service to parents and to their children who are deemed to be at risk of abuse, neglect, dependency. Level of service and degree of intensity will vary as the trainee moves through the agency training rotation. The trainee will be involved in emergency services, ongoing services and resource services and all the duties of those positions as outlined in their individual job descriptions and as deemed appropriate by the supervisor. He/she will provide transportation to clients as needed, respond to crisis situations during emergency coverage, complete all required paperwork, maintain case records based upon agency standards and attend and participate in supervisory conferences and meetings as required.
A bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology or related social services field is required. Must have excellent interviewing, counseling and communication skills and the ability to follow policy and procedures. Must have the ability to make assessments and manage situations and participate in minimum annual State required training hours and comply with all Local, State, and Federal requirements of this position. Working knowledge of personal computer to create, edit/revise, store and purge documents using windows-based applications and state data systems is necessary. Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain minimum automobile insurance. Must have the ability to work weekends, evenings and holidays from time to time. Must be able to work respectfully and competently with people of all cultures, classes, races, genders, ethnic backgrounds, religions, sexual orientations, mental and physical abilities, ages, and appearances in a manner that recognizes, affirms and values the worth of individuals, families and communities and protects and preserves the dignity of each
